The Short Story: VCU Men's Track & Field posted a fifth-place finish on Tuesday at the Bobcat/Shark Relays. The Rams secured 10 top-10 finishes which were highlighted by strong performances in the discus throw, high jump and relay events.

After placing in the top ten in two events at the A-10 Indoor Championships on March 1, Sophomore Jaekob Vollbrecht had another solid finish on Tuesday at the Ansin Sports Complex. The Spotsylvania, Va. native outthrew his competition to earn a first-place finish in the discus throw. 

THROWS 

• Teammates Coby Cockrell, Glen Yancey and Willie Schwartz placed third, fourth and fifth, respectively, in the discus

JUMPS

• Junior Xyan Xrichardson finished first in the high jump 

RELAY

• Chukwuezugo Aguolu, Noah Hackerson, Johnathan Mitchell and JeVon Waller won the 4 x 200 relay
• In the 4 x 100-meter relay, Hackerson, Aguolu, Mohamad Abdelrahman and Bashir Idris placed second in the race 

DISTANCE

• In the 5000-meter race, Freshman Jared Knight placed third 
• Senior Bryce Catlett earned fifth place in the 1500-meter run

The NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships will be held on Friday, March 13 and Saturday, March 14 in Albuquerque, N.M.
