FAIRFAX, VA.- The Atlantic 10 announced their annual awards for the outdoor track & field season following the conference championships on Sunday. VCU hurdler Presten Augustin was named Most Outstanding Rookie after a strong performance in the championship to cap off a dominant freshman season.Â
During the A-10 Championships, Augustin won two medals, a gold in the 400m hurdles and a silver in the 110m hurdles. He set a personal record in the 400h finals at 51.49s which is the third best mark in program history.Â
The Palm Beach Gardens, Fla. native becomes the second Ram to win the award since VCU joined the Atlantic 10. Jumper Bashir Idris previously won the award after a strong freshman season in the triple jump and long jump. Idris finished his VCU career with six medals between the two events.
This is Augustin's fifth overall A-10 award in the 2026 season as he won Rookie of the Week once during the indoor season and three times in the outdoor season before being named Most Outstanding Rookie Performer. He accumulated three victories during the outdoor season, all in the 400h and owns a top-three mark in program history in both the 110h and 400h.Â
Augustin will look to build on his dominant freshman season as he will be a sophomore in 2027. Along with his dominance in hurdle events, he also competed with the 4x100m relay team in two meets and the 4x400 team in three.Â
