AUGUSTIN, KARGBO-OWENS, DANIEL CONCLUDE COMPETITION AT NCAA EAST FIRST ROUND

LEXINGTON, Ky. – VCU junior Isaiah-Taji Kargbo-Owens finished 16th in the triple jump and freshman hurdler Presten Augustin finished 22nd in the 110 hurdle quarterfinals on Friday at the NCAA East First Round.

Kargbo-Owens posted a 15.71m triple jump, his second-best jump this outdoor season and just off his career-best 15.78m jump at the Virginia Challenge in April. He finished third at the Atlantic 10 Outdoor Championships in the event.

Augustin ran a time of 14.03 seconds in the event on Friday after advancing out of Wednesday's preliminary round with a school record-breaking performance time of 13.82 seconds. Augustin's impressive freshman season concludes after also winning silver in the 110 hurdles at the A-10 Outdoor Championships.

The duo was joined by senior Philip Daniel who competed in the triple jump but did not record a jump due to fouling. Daniel finished second at the A-10 Championships in the triple jump and had posted a 15.92m jump, the best of his career, at the Virginia Challenge in April.
