The Short Story:  The Ram men turned in noteworthy performances in all event groups at High Point, led by senior Jaekob Vollbrecht breaking his own school record in the discus with throw of 58.05 meters (190'-5").

SPRINTS
  • Graduate student Lamar Davis turned in a fast time of 10.52 seconds in the 100-meter dash, which ranks him at the top of the Atlantic 10 by nearly two-tenths of a second
  • Junior Lewis Freeman made the podium in the 400m, completing the lap in 48.28
     
HURDLES
  • Senior Emmanuel Waller put together an impressive double, winning the 400-meter hurdles in 51.27 and then following that up with a 14.26 in the 110-meter hurdles. Waller's time in the 400mh is currently the best in the Atlantic 10 and eighth in the NCAA East for the event
 
JUMPS
  • Davis was the runner-up in the long jump, leaping 7.37m (24'-2.25") on his best attempt of the day. Davis is now second in the Atlantic 10 for the long jump this season
  • Sophomore David Coles finished fourth in the triple jump with a mark of 15.06m, the best in the Atlantic 10 this season
THROWS
  • Vollbrecht's record-setting discus throw is not only the best in the Atlantic 10, but it also puts him seventh in the NCAA East and 15th nationally
  • Vollbrecht followed that up with a fourth-place finish in the shot put (17.17m) and a tenth-place showing in the hammer throw (55.16m)

DISTANCE
  • The team of senior Noah Peterson, sophomore Kendall Phillips, sophomore Nahim Abdallah, and sophomore Jaden Luczak etched their names into the VCU record book for the 4x1500-meter relay, clocking in at 16:23.45
  • Luczak broke the four-minute barrier for the first time in the 1500m, breaking the tape in 3:58.18

UP NEXT
VCU Track & Field will toe the line in two states again next weekend, with some athletes going to the Duke Invitational in Durham, N.C., on April 6-8. Another group of Rams will stay in Virginia for the Dalton E. Banks Invitational in Fairfax, Va., taking place on Saturday, April 8.
