The Short Story: The Rams captured several top 10 finishes in their outdoor season opener at the Fred Hardy Invitational Friday.
 
 
MEN

• Senior Willie Schwartz made his return to the throwing circle, placing third in the hammer throw
• Sophomores Aaron Goggins and Trevor Thomas went 4-5 in the javelin
• Freshman Nahim Abdallah ran 15.40.92 in the unseeded section of the 5000 to finish fourth
• Freshman Jaden Luczak clocked 1:58.84 in the 800
• Thomas grabbed a runner-up finish in the long jump, recording a 6.83m leap
• Junior Mohamad Abdelrahman placed fourth in the triple jump
• The Rams' 4x400 team of Paul Adelugba, Jackson Morvan, Luczak, and Goggins placed seventh

WOMEN 

• Sophomore Taylor James won her heat of the 100-meter hurdles, placing sixth overall. Freshman Sophie Heinold followed in seventh. Heinold also grabbed an eighth-place finish in the 400 hurdles
• James set a personal best in the javelin, recording her best mark on her first throw

VCU travels to Texas to compete in the prestigious Texas Relays (March 23-26) and Texas State Invitational (March 24-26). The Texas Relays will be streamed on ESPN3.
