The Short Story:Â The Rams picked up two medals and qualified several athletes to their respective finals on the first day of the Atlantic 10 Indoor Championships. VCU sits third in the team standings with 24 points heading into the final day of competition.

SPRINTS/HURDLES
- Senior JeVon Waller led a trio of Rams to the 60-meter dash finals. Waller qualified in first place, tying his personal best of 6.83. Senior Camron Browne qualified in seventh with a personal best of 6.95, and sophomore Justin Wallace ran 6.98 to qualify in eighth
- Juniors Noah Hackerson (48.88) and Lewis Freeman (49.16) went 2-3 in the 400 prelims to qualify for the finals
- Hackerson and Freeman doubled back in the 200 to qualify in third and seventh, respectively, for the finals. Hackerson ran a personal best of 22.09, and Freeman clocked 22.40
- Senior Emmanuel Waller and junior Jared Knight qualified for the 500 final in sixth and seventh, respectively. Waller's time of 1:06.32 is a personal best
- Senior Daiqwuan Faircloth and Waller set personal bests in the 60 hurdles, both clocking 8.16. The pair qualified to the finals in fourth and fifth, respectively. Sophomore Marcus Wilson followed in sixth, running 8.19

MULTIS
- After four events, sophomore Trevor Thomas sits in sixth in the heptathlon standings. Thomas posted the best mark of the competition in the long jump (6.88m). Senior Mykalee Atkins sits in eighth in the standings. The pair will complete the heptathlon Sunday, with the 60 hurdles, pole vault, and 1000 remainingÂ

JUMPS
- Browne began his day in the long jump, grabbing a silver medal with a 7.16m leap. Junior Gordon Smith collected bronze, also jumping 7.16m. Thomas set a personal best of 6.97m to place sixth. The trio combined for 17 points

THROWS
- Senior Jaekob Vollbrecht used a sixth a final round 18.99m throw to place fourth in the weight throw. Senior Coby Cockrell set a personal best of 17.60m to place seventh, as the pair combined for seven points
