The Short Story:Â For the second consecutive season, VCU Men's Track & Field finished top-three overall at the A-10 Indoor Championships. The Black and Gold supplied 102 team points to their cause and collected numerous impressive performances from its athletes. VCU provided five podium finishes, including gold in the 60-meter hurdles, silver in the high jump and shot put, and bronze in the shot put and triple jump.Â
Senior Ian Davis is no stranger to success at the A-10 Indoor Championships and displayed his poise and experience at Mackal Fieldhouse on Sunday afternoon. The hurdler from Montgomery Village, Md. earned gold in the 60-meter hurdles for the third consecutive year after finishing the race 0.14 seconds ahead of his closest competitor. Davis has had several impressive showings in this event this season, one of which being a first-place finish at the VMI Team Challenge on Jan. 25. In his final stint at VCU, the senior has his sights set on continuing to lead his team into the outdoor season.Â
"Ian has been the leader not only for my group but the entire team," said Vertical Jumps and Multis Coach Tom Sage. "His competitive mindset has led him to be a champion year after year after year. I could not be prouder of the work he puts in every day. He sweats the details and that's why he's the champ, conference record holder, school record holder and a great leader."
