Meet: Darius Dixon Memorial Invitational
Location: Lynchburg, Va. (Liberty Indoor Track Complex)
Results: (Day One) (Day Two)
The Short Story: In their last indoor meet before the Atlantic 10 Indoor Championships, VCU Men's Track and Field produced several solid performances from their upperclassman. In particular, Junior Willie Schwartz had another impressive showing this weekend, notching his fourth top-ten finish of the indoor season.
On Saturday, Schwartz placed second in weight throw and recorded a personal best of 19.26m. The junior shattered his previous personal best of throw of 18.83, which he set at the Nittany Lion challenge earlier this season. A consistent force for the Rams, Schwartz will look to dominate the field at the A-10 Championships in two weeks.
"Will is always a competitor, but he recently had to relearn that great throws are a byproduct of aggression and relaxation," said Throws Coach Ethan Tussing. "With that realization in hand, he [Will] will continue to progress and I know he will give us his best at the championship meet in a couple of weeks."
