  • The Short Story: Junior Dallas Smith scored her first goal of the season off of a VCU corner from Amanda Hallesjo as the Rams earned their second victory of the season, shutting out Mount St. Mary's 6-0 on Sunday afternoon at Sports Backers Stadium.

How It Happened

  • VCU was aggressive from the start on the offensive attack, outshooting Mount St. Mary's 26-7.
  • Smith started the onslaught by blasting a loose ball past the Mountaineer keeper in the eighth minute for an early lead.
  • Julia Suarez netted her second goal of the weekend to put the Rams on top 2-0 at the break. Suarez was swarming around the Mountaineer net, unleashing a barrage of shots all afternoon. The freshman scored twice in the match, nearly pulling off the hat-trick on several occaisions.
  • Senior Sharon Wojick added to the attack, scoring on a penalty kick in the 60th minute for a commanding 4-0 advantage.
  • Minutes later, Maddi Santo found the net for the second time this season on a one-timer in the box from fellow freshman Kelly Graves.
  • Senior Kailyn Slade capped the victory with her first score of the season on an assist from Wojcik. Slade assisted Suarez on her goal earlier in the half.
