- Stevens got the offensive charge started for the Rams, placing her first career shot on goal in the seventh minute, but Paredes made the save to open the match
- Weaving through Bonnies defenders, Nguyen laced a pass to Lins at the 18-yard marker, who found the back of the net with the Rams' decisive goal
- Stifling the SBU offense, the Rams didn't allow the host to take a shot until the 50th minute
- VCU's defense held onto the one-goal advantage, as Stella Castro made a potentially-lead-saving block on the back line and Pongratz tallied her final save in the 90th minute
