The Short Story: Presten Augustin, Philip Daniel and Isaiah-Taji Kargbo-Owens continue to build on strong seasons as each set personal records and major program milestones at the Virginia Challenge.Â
Sprints/Hurdles
- Jordan Davis competed in the 100m dash at 10.79s and the 200m dash at 21.66s
- Freshman Presten Augustin was victorious in the 400h with a personal record of 51.63s, good for third best mark in program history
- Marcus Acheampong set a personal record in the 110m hurdles at 14.00s, good for a sixth place finish and third best mark in program history
- Jude Okafor competed in the 400m dash at 48.10s
Distance
- Jonathan Hess competed in the 1500m run at the Georgia Tech Invitational at 3:56.26 and the 800m run at 1:53.88
- Carter Smith competed in the 1500m run at 4:01.81
Relays
Jumps
- Freshman Destiny Ese set a personal record in the long jump at 7.35m, finishing 5th
- Philip Daniel competed in the long jump at 6.96m
- Daniel and Isaiah-Taji Kargbo-Owens each set program records in the triple jump
- Daniel set a wind-aided program record of 15.92m while Kargbo-Owens set a program record at 15.78m
- Daniel finished fifth in the event while Kargbo-Owens placed seventh
Throws
- Troy McWilliams set a hammer throw personal record at 60.84m, finishing fifth and setting the third best mark in program history
- Devon Brooks competed in the hammer throw at 49.24m
- Shinobu Hawk competed in the discus throw at 48.42m
