RICHMOND, Va. – The VCU Men's Track & Field program is still setting high marks, long after the season has ended.
 
The Rams scored a win off the track this week, when they were named an All-Academic Team by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) for the third straight year.
 
The USTFCCCA awards the honor to teams that post a combined 3.0 grade-point-average (on a 4.0 scale) or better. VCU made this year's list with a 3.16 GPA under Head Coach Jon Riley.
 
Additionally, four VCU student-athletes were named All-Academic Athletes: freshman Presten Augustin (Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.), senior Philip Daniel (Manassas Park, Va.), freshman Destiny Ese (Nigeria) and senior Troy McWilliams (Newport News, Va.).
 
Augustin's honor caps an outstanding debut season. A Science major, Augustin captured a pair of Atlantic 10 Conference titles as a freshman, indoors in the 4x400 relay and outdoors in the 400 hurdles. He also claimed a runner-up finish outdoors in the 110 hurdles. Augustin's efforts earned him berths in both the 110 and 400 hurdles to the NCAA East First Round.
 
Daniel, who majored in Management and Entrepreneurship, cemented his status as the best triple jumper in program history with his record-setting leap of 15.92 meters in the event at the Virginia Challenge in April. He claimed gold in the triple jump at the A-10 Indoor Championships (15.66m) in February and won silver outdoors in May. He also qualified for the NCAA Outdoor First Round in the event.
 
Ese, a Business major, booked six top-3 finishes during his freshman campaign in the long jump and triple jump. He claimed fourth in the triple jump at both of the A-10 Championship meets this season and captured bronze in the long jump outdoors.
 
An Interdisciplinary Studies major, McWilliams won the A-10 weight throw at the indoor championship meet in February and finished third in the hammer in the spring on his way to an NCAA East First Round berth.
