The Short Story: A trio of seniors—
Lamar Davis,
Gordon Smith, and
Jaekob Vollbrecht—earned medals on the opening day of the Atlantic 10 Indoor Championships. Davis won the long jump, Smith took bronze in the long jump, and Vollbrecht took home a bronze in the weight throw to put the Black and Gold in a good position after the first day of competition in Rhode Island.
SPRINTS
- Smith also excelled on the track, posting the fast preliminary time in the 60-meter dash, breaking the tape in 6.84. Davis will join him in tomorrow's final after placing fifth in the prelims
- Senior Kacey Pratt qualified for the final in both the 200m and 400m, putting up times of 22.00 and 48.96 in those events. His 400m time was the fastest in prelims, giving Pratt the top seed for tomorrow's final

- Davis leapt 7.38m on his winning effort in the long jump, while Smith set a new personal record in the event of 7.20m to take the bronze
- Junior Trevor Thomas also scored points for the Rams in the long jump, placing fifth overall with a PR of 7.13m
THROWS
- Vollbrecht's top effort in the weight throw traveled 19.00m, a season best for him. His senior classmate Coby Cockrell also earned points in the event, finishing fifth overall with a throw of 17.95m
