RICHMOND, Va. – George Saunders (Southampton, England), previously a junior college All-American, will join the VCU Golf program as a transfer in the Fall of 2022, Rams' Coach Andy Walker announced Tuesday. Saunders, will complete his junior season at Tennessee this spring before joining VCU.
 
A native of Southampton, England, Saunders earned NJCAA First Team All-American honors at Midland College in 2019, as well as NJCAA Second Team Division I PING All-America honors in 2020. Saunders tied for fifth at the 2019 NJCAA Division I Championship. He was the third-ranked NJCAA golfer in the country that year, according to Golfstat, and his efforts helped lift Midland to a No. 1 ranking in the final Golfweek Coaches Poll of 2020.
 
Saunders has spent the past two years at Tennessee. He appeared in two tournaments this fall, including the Pinetree Intercollegiate, where he tied for fourth overall. He is the first signee for Walker, in his first year as head coach the Rams.
