LOONEY’S DOUBLE: FRESHMAN CLAIMS PAIR OF A-10 HONORS

RICHMOND, Va. – The hits keep coming for Carson Looney (Bethesda, Md.).

Shortly after bagging his first collegiate win, the VCU freshman has been named the Atlantic 10 Conference's Golfer and Rookie of the Week.

The Bethesda, Md. native led VCU to a team title on Oct. 25, when he shot 10-under (70-66-70) to capture medalist honors at the Monterrey Collegiate Classic in Mexico. Looney cruised to the individual win by three strokes, while the Black and Gold stormed to a 20-stroke victory over runner-up UT-Rio Grande Valley and Richmond.

Looney is the first VCU golfer to capture an individual medalist honor since teammate Braden O'Grady opened the 2024-25 season with a win at the Island River Collegiate in Bark River, Mich.

The Rams and Looney have completed their fall schedule and will return to action Feb. 9-10 at the Bentwater Intercollegiate in Houston, Texas.
