RICHMOND, Va. – Three VCU players have been named All-Atlantic 10 Conference, including freshman
Carson Looney (Bethesda, Md.), who was selected the league's Rookie of the Year, the A-10 revealed Tuesday.
Â
Looney was joined on the A-10 All-Conference squad by graduate student
Mason Minkel (Pekin, Ill.) and sophomore
Tanner Cadieux (Greensboro, N.C.), a pair of transfers who saw their careers blossom this season at VCU.
Â
Looney is the fifth VCU player to capture the A-10's Rookie of the Year award since the Rams joined the league in 2012-13. The Bethesda, Md. native led the Black and Gold in scoring average this season (72.21) and placed first at both the Monterrey Collegiate Classic in Mexico, as well as the Donald Ross Intercollegiate in Southern Pines, N.C. Looney was also VCU's top finisher at the Atlantic 10 Conference Championship April 27-29, when he shot 9-under (67-71-69) to place second overall.
Â
Minkel missed the fall season, but returned to break out as one of the Rams best players down the stretch. In five spring tournaments, Minkel registered a 72.53 stroke average, third-best on the team, and was the Rams top finisher at the Giles-Spratley Collegiate and the Mountaineer Invitational.
Â
Cadieux recorded VCU's second-best scoring average (72.46) this year, as well as the lowest round in 2025-26 by a Ram, when he shot 65 in the final round of the Bentwater Intercollegiate in Montgomery, Texas. Cadieux shot 7-under (70-71-65) on the way to his first collegiate medalist honor at Bentwater.
