RICHMOND- The Atlantic 10 Conference announced their weekly awards Wednesday with VCU freshman hurdler Presten Augustin winning Rookie of the Week honors after a strong performance at the Dalton Ebanks Invitational. It is Augustin's second Rookie of the Week in 2026. 

Augustin competed in the 110m and 400m hurdles at the Dalton Ebanks Invitational, hosted by George Mason, where he was the top finishing NCAA competitor in each event. He also has the top time in the A-10 for both events and ranks top-100 nationally. 

He set a personal record with a 14.04s time in the 110h where he placed second in the event only behind a non-NCAA runner. He is tied with Emmanuel Waller for third all-time in program history in the 110h as Waller finished with a 14.04s run at the 2023 A-10 Outdoor Championships. 

In the 400h, Augustin was victorious with a PR of 52.25. The Palm Beach Gardens, Fla. native passed Christian Grossenbacher for third all-time in the 400m hurdles. He defeated the next closest competitor, Justin Febles of UMBC, by 0.42 seconds and was nearly two seconds quicker than the third place competitor. 

In addition to leading the A-10, Augustin is 64th in the NCAA in the 110h and 80th in the 400h. He ranks ninth amongst NCAA freshmen in the 110h and 18th in the 400h. 

This is the first A-10 weekly award for the Rams during the outdoor track & field season and Augustin's second overall. He won Rookie of the Week on Feb. 17 thanks to a program-record breaking 60h performance at the Darius Dixon Memorial Invitational, hosted by Liberty. 

The Rams return to action over the weekend with a split meet. Some VCU athletes will travel to Tampa, Fla. for the South Florida Invitational while others travel to Durham, N.C. for the Duke Invitational. The Duke Invitational will be streamed on ACC Network Extra while the South Florida Invitational will not be streamed.
