FULL RESULTS

Tournament:
Bentwater Intercollegiate
Location: Montgomery, Texas (Bentwater Country Club)
Course info: Par 71, 6,788 Yards
Top Ram: Tanner Cadieux, 1st (-7)
VCU Finish: 1st (+5)

The short story: A three-month break in competition did cool off VCU. Behind medalist Tanner Cadieux, the Rams captured their second straight tournament, defeating host Sam Houston State on the first hole of a sudden-death playoff Tuesday.

FIRST TEE
  • Cadieux closed with a flurry in Tuesday's final round, firing a bogey-free, 6-under 65 to march to a 4-stroke victory over Bogdan Sandrini of Central Arkansas. He shot 70-71 on Monday to set the stage for Tuesday's heroics. It's the first win of Cadieux's collegiate career
  • Senior Zach Felts and graduate student Mason Minkel each made birdie on the first hole of the playoff to provide the Rams with the win. It's the second straight team title for the Black and Gold, which capped its Fall campaign with a 20-stroke win at the Monterrey Collegiate Classic in Mexico in October
  • Felts, a transfer from Utah Tech, shot a second-round 68 on this way to a fourth-place finish (74-68-71)
  • Minkel also booked a top-20 effort, carding 74-71-72. He earned a share of 18th place
  • Senior Braden O'Grady and freshman Carson Looney rounded out VCU's top five in 58th

INSIDE THE SCORECARD

  • VCU led the field in Par 4 scoring (4.04), eagles (3), and birdies (49)
NOTABLE
