The short story: Junior Jake Conklin fired a final-round 67 to spark a late leaderboard challenge and led VCU to a fourth-place finish at the Atlantic 10 Conference Championship in Orlando, Fla. Thursday.
 
FIRST TEE

• Conklin carded the low round of the day in the field to vault 12 spots on the leaderboard to third Thursday. He bogeyed just one hole and recorded four birdies and an eagle. Conklin (74-71-67) finished 4-under overall for the 54-hole event
• Davidson (-10) rallied past Richmond for a one-stroke victory for the team title, followed by Dayton (-2) and the Rams (Even)
• VCU combined to shoot a 6-under 282 Thursday, the best in the field, to ease into fourth
• Senior Caden Scarbrough put a bow on an All-Conference season, shooting 2-under (74-69-71) on the way to a share of seventh place for the Black and Gold
• Junior Braden O'Grady tied for 15^th in the field after shooting 72 Thursday. He was 1-over on the week

Both Scarbrough and O'Grady were named All-Atlantic 10 Conference for their efforts this season.
