EIGHT RAMS EARN ALL-ATLANTIC 10 HONORS, THREE NAMED TO FIRST TEAM

RICHMOND, Va. – VCU Field Hockey had eight student-athletes earn Atlantic 10 honors headlined by Emma Clements being named Goalkeeper of the Year and Lina Behrmann being named Rookie of the Year.

Clements and Behrmann were also named to the All-Atlantic 10 First Team alongside Morena Macera. Josefina Ventimiglia and Ana Afonso were named to the All-Atlantic 10 Second Team. Behrmann, Emily Föerster and Angelina Gandos were named to the All-Rookie Team. Macera, Clements and Ventimiglia also earned All-Academic Team honors.

The eight Rams helped VCU post a historic season, earning a share of the Atlantic 10 Regular Season title. It marked the Rams' second-ever regular conference championship, both of which have come under head coach Stacey Bean. THe Rams won the A-10 Regular Season and Tournament Championship in the spring of 2021.

Clements, a redshirt junior, was named A-10 Goalkeeper of the Year and All-Atlantic 10 First Team honors after leading the league in save percentage, goals against average and shutouts. Clements posted an .815 save percentage which ranked fourth nationally. She posted eight shutouts on the season, double that of any other A-10 goalkeeper. Clements was named to the All-Academic Team as a Biomedical Engineering Major who has been named to the Dean's List, AD Honor Roll and A-10 Commissioner's Honor Roll.

Behrmann, a freshman, was named A-10 Rookie of the Year, All-Atlantic 10 First Team and to the All-Rookie Team after leading the Atlantic 10 in assists with 15 and setting a VCU single-season record. Behrmann ranked eighth nationally in assists per game with 0.88. Behrmann also scored three goals and ranked second on the team and fifth in the A-10 with 21 total points.

Macera, a senior, was named to the All-Atlantic 10 First Team for the third consecutive season as well as earning All-Academic Team honors. Macera scored 17 goals and added five assists as she ranked 12th nationally in goals per game. Macera was tied for second in the A-10 in goals and ranked third in total points with 39. She is tied for the fifth-most goals in a single season for VCU and seventh in total points. Macera is a business major been named to the Dean's List, AD Honor Roll and A-10 Commissioner's Honor Roll.

Josefina Ventimiglia, a junior, was named to the All-Atlantic 10 Second Team after scoring one goal and recording eight assists. Ventimiglia ranked fifth in the A-10 in assists. She also ranked fourth on the team with 10 points despite missing three games at the beginning of the season. Ventimiglia earned A-10 honors for the first time in her career.

Ana Afonso joined Ventimiglia on the All-Atlantic 10 Second Team. Afonso helped lead a VCU defense that posted eight shutouts while also scoring six goals and recording one assist. Afonso was tied for seventh in the A-10 in goals and fifth in game-winning goals with three. She was eighth in total points with 13.

Gandos was named to the All-Rookie Team after recording seven assists and one goal. Gandos ranked sixth in the A-10 in assists. Föerster, a freshman, was named to the All-Rookie Team after scoring two goals.
