WASHINGTON, D.C. – Leading the defensive charge in VCU men's soccer's second consecutive shutout, senior defender
Moussa Ndiaye repeats as Atlantic 10 Defensive Player of the Week, the conference announced Monday.
Â
After holding Loyola Chicago to just three shots on goal last week, the Rams back line limited Rhode Island to a single on-target shot for a season-low mark. VCU also allowed just eight total shots in the contest, which was its fewest against an A-10 opponent this season for the second consecutive game.
Â
The preseason All-Atlantic 10 center back also earned the honor last week, marking the first Ram selected for multiple weekly conference honors this year.
Â
Ndiaye has started on the back line in every game he was eligible for this season, collecting over 1,100 minutes and adding an assist, while leading VCU to four clean sheets.
Â
The Rams have earned four A-10 weekly awards earlier in the season:
Hakim Musabbah, Rookie of the Week (Sept. 2)
Trevor Maloney, Defensive Player of the Week (Sept. 15)
Luca Estabio, Rookie of the Week (Oct. 13)
Moussa Ndiaye, Defensive Player of the Week (Oct. 27)
Â
Ndiaye and the Rams will be back in action for their regular season finale on Saturday, Nov. 1, at Sports Backers Stadium as they look to extend their season into the Atlantic 10 Tournament.
