HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Mohammed Ibrahim and Abdul-Mateen each placed shots on goal in the first half, but the Rams were unable to break through a 0-0 tie at the half
  • Salmon laced a pass in the penalty area to Adbul-Mateen, who had a swift finish to snap the stalemate in the 58th minute
  • 14 minutes and nine seconds later, Maloney sent a long ball into the Rams' attacking third, and Abdul-Mateen took it to the house for a 2-0 lead
  • In the 83rd minute, Ramblers' midfielder David Siemionko was issued a red card and the Rams were awarded a penalty kick

QUOTABLE
"Obviously, it was a huge result here at the business end of the season, in a place that's tough to come and get 3 points. We did some good things today and scored three good goals, and probably should have had a few more. We will take the win and shift into preparation for next weekend away at Rhode Island, which is also a really tough place to go," Head Coach Dave Giffard said.
 
UP NEXT
VCU will continue its road trip next weekend in Kingston, R.I., on Saturday, Oct. 25, as the Rams take on Rhode Island to conclude their regular season road schedule. On Saturday, Nov. 1, VCU will finish its regular season at home against Davidson.
