WASHINGTON, D.C. – Luca Estabio was named the Atlantic 10 men's soccer Rookie of the Week after the freshman ignited VCU's comeback victory at No. 24 Goerge Mason on Wednesday, lifting the Rams to their second top-25 win of the season.
Â
The goal, which was featured on ESPN's SportsCenter Top 10 on Wednesday night, marked a collegiate first for the Lincoln, Argentina, native and tied the match, leading the way for VCU to complete the comeback for its first A-10 win of the season.
Â
Â
One of just four Rams and the only newcomer to tally four or more shots in a match this year, Estabio played a then-career high 49 minutes in the match. He also recorded 61 minutes in the Rams' Saturday match against Saint Louis.
Â
Two Rams also earned A-10 awards earlier in the season,
Hakim Musabbah was named A-10 Rookie of the Week on Sept. 2 and
Trevor Maloney was tabbed A-10 Defensive Player of the Week on Sept. 15.
Â
Estabio and the Rams will be back in action on the road Saturday, Oct. 18 at Loyola Chicago as they look to snap the Ramblers' three-game unbeaten streak.
