WASHINGTON, D.C. – Moussa Ndiaye, VCU men's soccer preseason Atlantic 10 center back, was tabbed the A-10 Defensive Player of the Week after the Rams' dominant victory at Loyola Chicago, the conference announced Monday.
Â
The Dakar, Senegal, native played the full 90 minutes for the 12
th time this season and made his 63
rd career start in the Black & Gold, leading VCU to a commanding 3-0 victory at Loyola Chicago on Saturday, Oct. 18.
Â
Ndiaye's strong defensive presence guided the Rams to their third clean sheet of the year as VCU allowed its second-fewest shots on goal this season, holding Loyola to just three, and allowed 10 total shots in the match, its best against an A-10 opponent.
Â
The captain joins three Rams who earned A-10 weekly awards earlier in the season:
Hakim Musabbah, Rookie of the Week (Sept. 2)
Trevor Maloney, Defensive Player of the Week (Sept. 15)
Luca Estabio, Rookie of the Week (Oct. 13)
Â
Ndiaye and VCU men's soccer will be back in action for their final regular season road match on Saturday, Oct. 25, at Rhode Island as they look to continue climbing the Atlantic 10 standings into the postseason.
