Braden O'Grady booked his second straight top-10 finish and senior
Jan Rybczynski helped lead a second-round surge for VCU at the Purdue Fall Invitational this week at the Kampen Course.
FIRST TEE
- O'Grady, who earned medalist honors Sept. 2 at the Island Resort Collegiate, tied for seventh Tuesday after shooting 2-under (75-68-71) amid a 75-player field
- Rybczynski, in his first action as a Ram since transferring from Long Island, fired a second-round 67 on his way to 10th place for the Black and Gold. He shot 75-67-73 to finish 1-under on the 7,461-yard, par 72 layout
- Behind O'Grady and Rybczynski, VCU rallied from a slow start to shoot 12-over and tie with Marquette for sixth place. Indiana (-14) captured the team title, while Miami (Ohio) (-10), Iowa (+6), host Purdue (+9) and Toledo (+11) rounded out the top five
- Senior Caden Scarbrough overcame a first-round 78 and shot 72-71 over the final 36 holes to claim a share of 32nd for VCU. Junior Mac McGurn placed 47th for the Black and Gold

- VCU carded a tournament-best three eagles – one each by O'Grady, Scarbrough and Rybczynski
- Rybczynski's 13 birdies ranked second in the field only to individual medalist Michael Weber (16) of Miami (Ohio)
