RICHMOND, Va. – VCU student-athletes continue to score high marks in the classroom.
Â
Three VCU programs – Men's Tennis, Women's Cross Country and Lacrosse – scored perfect Academic Progress Rate (APR) scores of 1,000 for 2022-23, the NCAA revealed Tuesday. Those marks highlight an overall department-wide score of 982, VCU's sixth consecutive year posting a mark of 980 or better.
Â
Additionally, five VCU Athletics programs registered a multi-year rate of 985 or better: Men's Golf, Men's Soccer, Field Hockey, Women's Soccer and Women's Tennis.
Â
APR is the NCAA's metric for measuring the overall academic health of each program, as well as tracking graduation rates. Each academic year, every Division I sports team calculates its APR using a simple and consistent formula. Each term, scholarship student-athletes can earn one point for remaining eligible and one point for staying in school or graduating.
Â
Tuesday's release helps cap another outstanding academic stretch for the Rams. VCU student-athletes posted a combined grade-point-average (GPA) of 3.41 for the Spring 2024 semester, the second-highest in program history, and the 19
th consecutive semester of 3.0 or better.
