RAMS NET HIGH NCAA ACADEMIC PROGRESS RATE MARKS

RICHMOND, Va. – VCU student-athletes continue to score high marks in the classroom.

Three VCU programs – Men's Tennis, Women's Cross Country and Lacrosse – scored perfect Academic Progress Rate (APR) scores of 1,000 for 2022-23, the NCAA revealed Tuesday. Those marks highlight an overall department-wide score of 982, VCU's sixth consecutive year posting a mark of 980 or better.

Additionally, five VCU Athletics programs registered a multi-year rate of 985 or better: Men's Golf, Men's Soccer, Field Hockey, Women's Soccer and Women's Tennis.

APR is the NCAA's metric for measuring the overall academic health of each program, as well as tracking graduation rates. Each academic year, every Division I sports team calculates its APR using a simple and consistent formula. Each term, scholarship student-athletes can earn one point for remaining eligible and one point for staying in school or graduating.

Tuesday's release helps cap another outstanding academic stretch for the Rams. VCU student-athletes posted a combined grade-point-average (GPA) of 3.41 for the Spring 2024 semester, the second-highest in program history, and the 19th consecutive semester of 3.0 or better.
