NEWPORT NEWS, Va. –
Sarah Te-Biasu was named the Atlantic 10 Player of the Year headlining four Rams who earned All-Atlantic 10 honors announced by the league office on Wednesday.
Te-Biasu was also named to the All-Atlantic 10 First Team while
Timaya Lewis-Eutsey was named to the All-Atlantic 10 Third Team,
Mykel Parham was named to the All-Defensive Team and All-Academic Team and Lucía Sotelo was named to the All-Rookie Team.
Te-Biasu, a senior guard, became the first Ram to earn conference player of the year accolades since Cyndy Wilks was named the Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) Player of the Year in 2003-04. Te-Biasu led the Rams with 15.6 points per game overall and averaged 17.3 points per game in conference play. She also averaged 2.9 assists and 3.4 rebounds during A-10 play.
She ranked 33
rd nationally in 3-pointers made per game (2.5), 65
th in 3-point percentage (37.7 percent) and 35
th in free throw percentage (86.0). She ranked in the top Te-Biasu was a two-time All-Atlantic 10 Third Team selection, earning the honors each of the past two seasons.
Lewis-Eutsey, a sophomore guard, was named to the All-Atlantic 10 Third Team after averaging 13.1 points and 5.1 rebounds on the season. She ranked second on the team in both categories. Lewis-Eutsey scored in double figures in 21 of 28 games played this season and recorded three games of 20 points or more. Lewis-Eutsey ranked 90
th nationally in field goal percentage.
Parham, a graduate forward, earns the first Atlantic 10 honors of her career. Parham led a VCU defense that ranked second nationally in scoring defense (52.0 ppg), first in 3-point defense (23.5 percent), 14
th in field goal percentage defense (35.6 percent) and seventh in rebounding margin (+10.0). Parham averaged a team-high 8.3 rebounds on the season along with 5.3 points per game.
Academically, Parham is currently pursuing a master's degree in criminal justice and has been named to the Dean's List, AD Honor and A-10 Honor Roll while at VCU.
Sotelo, a freshman forward, played in 30 games this season with 26 starts. She averaged 3.2 points and 2.6 rebounds in 17.6 minutes while being a key contributor to VCU's nationally ranked defense. Sotelo scored a career-high 13 points in a win at Saint Louis this season and grabbed a career-high seven rebounds against East Carolina.
VCU set a program record for regular season wins with a record of 26-4, including a 15-3 mark in Atlantic 10 play.
The Rams earned the No. 2 seed in the Atlantic 10 Championship and will play the winner of Saint Louis/George Washington on Friday, March 8 at 5 p.m. The game will be streamed on ESPN+.
