The short story: Despite five early lead changes, VCU was unable to hold on for the win, falling to Davidson at the Siegel Center on Wednesday, 66-39.

• The Rams shot 30 percent (3-for-10) from beyond the arc, while Davidson was 6-for-22, shooting 27.3 percent from the 3-point line
• Katarina Kneževic was one rebound shy of a double-double, leading VCU with 10 points and nine rebounds. She matched her season-best three offensive rebounds

HOW IT HAPPENED:

• The Rams held the Wildcats to a close game through the first quarter, trailing just 17-14, led by Makennah White's five points in the opening period
• Davidson closed the opening half with an 15-4 run, taking a 35-20 lead at the break
• Donovan and Jasmine Timmerson combined for seven points and extended the Wildcats' advantage to 51-28 at the end of the third quarter
• VCU recorded 11 fourth-quarter points, but Davidson pulled away to a 66-39 final
