BASEBALL RELEASES 2024 SCHEDULE

RICHMOND, Va. – Second-year Head Coach Bradley LeCroy announced today, the 2024 VCU Baseball schedule, with VCU opening up the season on Feb. 16 at NC State.

The Rams open The Diamond on Feb. 20 against Longwood and on Mar. 29 the Rams begin Atlantic 10 play when they welcome UMass to the Diamond on Mar. 29.

LeCroy and his staff brought in 25 incomers, made up of a collection of freshman and transfers, to join 24 Rams already wearing the black and gold as part of the incoming class. Of the 25 incomers, 16 are pitchers, five will roam the outfield and four will look to play the infield. The Rams also added a pair of catchers to solidify VCU's backstop.

"We have another great and challenging schedule in 2024," said LeCroy. "We play 27 home games and 16 games against NCAA tournament teams. We will face NCAA Tournament teams NC State, Virginia, North Carolina, and Boston College. We also will welcome the reigning Big 10 champion Maryland Terripans to The Diamond.

"Our goal is to get our guys ready to compete in the A-10 and in the postseason and by playing this tough slate we hope to accomplish that. The goal here is to compete for and win A-10 titles and this schedule should get us ready to do that."

Within the class, nine are true freshmen, 11 are transfers and six are graduate transfers. As VCU has brought in a collection of experienced and fresh student athletes, they'll look to put VCU in position to return to the top of the A-10 and win their third A-10 Tournament title in four years.

Following the opening weekend at NC State (Feb. 16-18) and the home opener against Longwood, VCU remains home for seven home games giving VCU eight home games over the opening 12 games. The Rams welcome Merrimack College from Feb. 23-25, and then head to Chapel Hill, N.C. for a midweek game on Feb. 27 at North Carolina.

VCU returns home the next day, on Feb. 28, to finish off the first month of the season by hosting Maryland for a second midweek game. The Rams then wrap up their home stand with the Central Virginia Classic where Sacred Heart (Mar. 1), Central Connecticut State (Mar. 2) and Boston College (Mar. 3) all make the trip to Richmond, Va.

Over the next week VCU hits the road, visiting East Carolina for a pair of games on Mar. 5-6 before continuing south to Greenville, S.C. for the First Pitch Invitational, hosted by Michigan State at Fluor Field (Greenville Drive; Boston Red Sox High-A).

VCU will play Michigan State (Mar. 8), Western Michigan (Mar. 9) and Western Carolina (Mar. 10). The Rams remain on the road with a midweek trip to Longwood on Mar. 12 to wrap up a week away from The Diamond.

The Rams welcome the Ivy League's Princeton for a weekend series from Mar. 15-17 before heading back on the road for a midweek game at Liberty on Mar. 19. VCU then heads west, making the trek to Cincinnati, Ohio for a weekend matchup against Xavier from Mar. 22-24.

Liberty comes to The Diamond on Apr. 16, followed by a weekend visit by Dayton (Apr. 19-21) in an A-10 weekend.

A midweek visit to Old Dominion (Apr. 23) and a trip to Fairfax, Va. and George Mason (Apr. 26-28) makes up the next week for VCU as they hit the midway point of A-10 play.

The Rams then finish up their home slate of matches, starting with a visit by Virginia on Apr. 30. VCU wraps up its A-10 home stand with a weekend visit by George Washington from May 3-5, and on May 7 Old Dominion comes to Richmond in the final home game of the season.
