Clinching its third consecutive Atlantic 10 weekend series, VCU baseball scored in all but one inning and rallied for 11 hits and 13 runs behind six shutout frames from Saturday starter Patrick Steitz to take down St. Bonaventure, 13-3.

LEADING OFF:
  • Steitz made another outstanding start, dropping his season ERA to 1.17 and his conference ERA to a mere 0.45. He matched his season-best seven strikeouts for the third-straight outing and allowed just three hits and no free passes in 6.0 innings
  • VCU tallied double-digit hits in its fourth consecutive contest and its seventh in the previous eight games
  • Nick Flores and Jacob Lee each tallied four runs apiece, tying their career and season highs as well as matching the most by Rams this season
  • Flores scores four Runs and Lee added four RBI in the game
  • Trent Adelman belted a solo home run, VCU's 29th of the year
  • In the first inning, Michael Petite stole home for the second time this season
  • Teige Lethert accounted for the other pair of Rams' hits, extending their reached-base streaks to nine and eight, respectively
  • Cade Dressler picked up the save, throwing 3.0 innings to close the game
HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • VCU scored in each of the first six innings, opening the game with a double steal by Flores and Petite and adding two runs over the following frames on RBI by Quinn Maher and Lee
  • The Rams had a big fourth inning, using three hits and a pair of St. Bonaventure errors to scratch across five runs, taking an 8-0 lead
  • VCU extended the lead to 10-0 on a solo shot from Adelman, and Flores advanced home on an attempted double steal before the sixth inning ended in a rundown
  • St. Bonaventure spoiled the Rams' shutout in the eighth inning, lacing an RBI single through the right side and take advantage of VCU's lone error in the game
  • Taking advantage of catcher's interference by the Bonnies, Lee belted a two-run triple and Kirkpatrick ripped an RBI single to second base to give VCU its 13-1 lead
  • SBU didn't go down without a fight, adding a pair of runs in the ninth inning, but the Rams prevailed to secure the weekend series with a 13-3 final score
