The short story: Senior Sachin Kumar and Kristian Tannum Donaldson each recorded a top-25 finish to lead VCU at its spring opener this week in Puerto Rico.
 
FIRST TEE

• Tannum Donaldson fired a 3-under 69 during Tuesday's final round. He registered four birdies on the day on the way to a share of 25^th place
• Kumar, playing as an individual, opened with a 69 on Sunday and closed with a final-round 72
• Freshman Charlie Kennedy overcame a challenging start to the tournament and cruised to a 4-under 68 on Tuesday. He registered four birdies on the day and eagled the 510-yard, par 5 No. 9 hole
• VCU combined to shoot 4-under over the 54-hole event to place eighth overall. Host UNC Greensboro (-29) earned a four-stroke win over Drexel (-25), followed by Ball State (-22), Wofford (-19) and James Madison (-16)
