The Short Story: The Rams' throwers put together a successful weekend in Blacksburg, capturing five top-10 finishes and three personal bests.
 
 
DAY ONE

• Senior Jaekob Vollbrecht led the Rams in the weight throw with a sixth-place showing. His mark of 18.96m, recorded in the sixth and final round, is a new personal best
• Junior Justin Barnett placed ninth in the event, also setting a new personal best of 15.32m
• Vollbrecht sits third in the Atlantic 10 in the event

 
DAY TWO

• Three Rams placed in the top eight of the shot put, led by senior Daniel Guiliani. Guiliani recorded a 17.04m toss, placing fifth
• Senior Glen Yancey placed seventh with a 16.19m throw, and Barnett set his second personal best of the weekend (15.25m) to place eighth
• All three Rams currently sit in the Atlantic 10 top 10 in the event, with Guiliani second, Yancey fourth, and Barnett eighth

 
UP NEXT
VCU travels to Virginia Beach, Va. to compete in the Kenneth Giles Invitational hosted by Norfolk State. Action begins Friday, Feb. 11.
