The Short Story: Three Rams set personal bests as a quartet of VCU's throwers opened their seasons at the Virginia Tech Invitational on Friday and Saturday
 
DAY ONE

• Three Rams competed in the weight throw, led by senior Jaekob Vollbrecht
• Vollbrecht set a personal best to notch seventh place. He reached the 18-meter mark for the first time in his career, launching an 18.45m throw
• Senior Daniel Guiliani recorded a 17.96m mark on his last throw of the night to secure a personal best, finishing in ninth place
• Senior Coby Cockrell recorded a mark of 15.42m 

DAY TWO

• Three Rams competed in the shot put, going 4-5-6 in the final standings
• Senior Glen Yancey recorded a personal best of 17.41m on his first throw of the afternoon to lead the Rams, breaking the 17-meter barrier for the first time in his career
• Seniors Daniel Guiliani and Jaekob Vollbrecht recorded marks of 17.33m and 17.18m, respectively

VCU travels to Lynchburg, Va. to compete in the Brant Tolsma Invitational, hosted by Liberty University. The three-day meet begins Thursday, Jan. 20 at 12 p.m.
