The short story: VCU captured six of eight matches on the way to a lopsided win over Richmond in the annual Black and Blue Cup Friday.
 
FIRST TEE

• Seniors Sachin Kumar and Peter Gasperini each registered 3&2 victories. Kumar was strong on the front nine in his matchup with Garrett Clark. He recorded four birdies to go 3UP at the turn
• VCU freshman Joe Retford secured a 2UP win over Carter Cook when he birdied 18, a 559-yard, Par 5 layout
• Senior Kristian Tannum Donaldson was tested by Michael Baker and responded with a 68 on the way to a 1UP victory. The players were All Square through 11, but back-to-back birdies on Nos. 12 and 13 provided Tannum Donaldson with enough cushion to hold on for the win

• The Black & Blue Cup returned after a two-year hiatus. The 2020 match was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Cup was not held in 2019
