The short story: Senior transfer Peter Gasperini continued his fast start to his VCU career, turning in a 3-under effort and second straight top-10 performance to lead VCU at the Palmetto Golf Club.
 
FIRST TEE

• Gasperini shot 70-68-69 to contend with a group of players that included six ranked in the top 100 of Golfweek's rankings, including No. 2 Jacob Bridgeman of Clemson, who shot 11-under to claim individual medalist honors; Gasperini finished second last week at the Southern Invitational
• VCU combined to shoot even par (281-274-285=840) at the 54-hole event. Seventh-ranked Clemson (-19) pulled away for the team title, followed by UNC Wilmington (-12), South Carolina-Aiken (-9) and Furman (-7)
• Newcomer Mikkel Antonsen shot par (72-67-71) and placed 13^th in just his second tournament as a Ram
• Senior Kristian Tannum Donaldson (72-68-71) finished one stroke off Antonsen's pace in 14^th place for the Black and Gold, while senior Sachin Kumar (67-71-74) checked in at 16^th place

• Gasperini's final round started with bogeys on No. 7 and No. 9, but the senior settled down to fire birdies on 10, 12 and 14 on the way to and even par 70
• Gasperini accounted for nine of VCU's 36 birdies in the tournament. Antonsen and Tannum Donaldson recorded eight each. Antonsen also registered an eagle on No. 10, a 482-yard par 5, in Monday's second round on the way to a 3-under 67
• VCU combined to shoot 12-under on par 5 holes in the tournament, second only to Temple
• Antonsen led the field in par 5 scoring (-5)
