The Short Story: VCU Men's Track & Field provided a strong performance and collected three first-place finishes at the VMI Team Challenge on Saturday
The Starting Line
- Ian Davis, a senior from Montgomery Village, Md., placed first in the 60-meter hurdles
- Junior Xyan Xrichardson earned a first-place finish in the high jump
- Junior thrower Glen Yancey won the shot-put event on Saturday
- Thrower Coby Cockrell finished third in the weight throw and fourth in the shot put. The sophomore set personal bests in both events
- Senior Bryce Catlett finished fourth in the 3000-meter run
- Freshman Gordon Smith earned a fourth-place finish in the long jump and set a PR in the event as well
- Freshmen Jared Knight and Johnathan Mitchell took fifth and sixth-place finishes, in the 400-meter. Both Knight and Mitchell, as well as freshman Corey Bannister, set PRs in the event
- Senior Lucas Sidle placed sixth in the mile, while teammate Sean Moulton earned a personal record in the race

VCU will compete in the Carolina Challenge in Columbus, S.C. on Friday, Jan. 31 and Saturday, Feb. 1.
