The Short Story: The Rams trailed the Dukes 5-1 with four minutes left in the first half before outscoring Duquesne 7-2 over a 16 minute span to take an 8-7 lead with 18:36 left in the game. VCU would push its lead to 12-8 with 5:17 left and held off a late Duquesne rally.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The two teams were locked in a defensive battle for much of the first half as Duquesne jumped out to a 5-1 lead with four minutes left in the first stanza.
- The Rams got goals from Nicole Morris and Keriann McTavish to cut the deficit to just 5-3 at halftime.
- Del Rossi scored first out of the break to get within 5-4 before Duquesne scored two goals in less than two minutes to lead 7-4 with 25:36 left.
- The Rams would then score the next four goals and take their first lead of the contest at 8-7 on an Evans-Riester goal with 18:36 remaining.
- Duquesne tied it up at 8-8 just less than four minutes later but another four goal run by the Rams push their lead to 12-8 with 5:17 remaining.
- VCU's defense held Duquesne to two goals in the final 14:53 of the contest to earn the victory.
