OPENING DRAW:
- VCU's six wins set a new mark for conference wins in the program's 11-year history. The previous best was five in 2018
- Sam Palmer scored a game-high four goals, surpassing 100 career points in her career
- Kate Unzicker and Molly O'Keefe each had three goals
- Kenson Epperly recorded four assists
- Ally Schromsky had six draw controls and two caused turnovers
- VCU outshot URI 28-23 overall and 23-18 in shots on goal
- Rhode Island was led by Kate Cumins who had a team-high four goals
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Rams started quickly, scoring the game's first goal and taking a 5-1 lead at the end of the first quarter following an Unzicker goal with 2:29 left in the quarter
- The Rams led 7-3 after O'Keefe scored with 7:40 left in the second quarter but the Rams scored four unanswered goals to tie the game at 7-7 at halftime
- The two teams traded goals to open the third quarter before Palmer, Eilbacher and Unzicker scored as part of three unanswered to lead 11-8 with 7:38 left in the third quarter
- VCU maintained at least a two-goal lead for the remainder of the contest as the Rams held on for the win
