Virginia Commonwealth University Friday evening as the Rams fell
15-2 against William & Mary in the first game of a three-game
series at The Diamond.
VCU drops its first Colonial Athletic Association
contest of the season and slips to 13-13 overall and 3-1 in CAA
play, while William & Mary has won 11 of its last 14 games and
improves to 16-8, 3-1.
Senior Richard
Gonzalez went 2-for-3 with a walk to lead the
VCU. Classmate Joe Van
Meter, who went 1-for-4 at the plate, extended his
hitting streak to 10 games and put the Rams on the board in the
eighth with a two-RBI single.
William & Mary starting pitcher Logan
Billbrough took a no-hitter into the sixth inning before Gonzalez
roped a one-out double off the right field wall.

in every inning except the eighth when the Rams got on the board
with a pair of runs.

to take a 10-0 advantage. Hauser, who walked eight and hit
three batters in 3.2 innings, was relieved by Aaron
