RICHMOND,Va.- The Atlantic 10 announced VCU freshman Aubree Harris as the women's track and field Rookie of the Week on Tuesday. Harris earns the award after setting the best time in the Atlantic 10 for 60m hurdles at the VMI Winter Relays on Saturday, Feb. 7. 

After qualifying for the 60h finals with a 8.54s qualifying time on Friday, Harris continued her strong weekend with a personal-record 8.52s time in the finals, good for a 2nd place finish in a field that began with 34 competitors. The finishing time also places her in 3rd place in VCU program history for the event.

Harris has continually progressed throughout her first year of collegiate competition. In her debut meet, she finished 5th at the VCU Rams Indoor Invitational with a 8.82s time, before cutting her times until Saturday. She recorded her first collegiate victory at the Liberty Open on Jan. 23 with a 8.59s finishing time. 

Harris becomes the second VCU women's track & field athlete to win an A-10 weekly award this season as thrower Desi Akaolisa took home Field Performer of the Week honors on Jan. 20. She also becomes the second Ram to win Rookie of the Week for the track & field program as jumper Destiny Ese earned the award on the men's side after a strong performance in the VCU Rams Indoor Invitational.

Harris and the Rams return to action this weekend as they travel to Liberty for Darius Dixon Memorial Invitational on Friday, Feb. 13 and continuing through Saturday, Feb. 14. Harris will compete in the 60m hurdles starting with the prelims at 2:20 pm on Friday, followed potentially by the semifinals at 3:35 pm and finals at 12:25 pm on Saturday.
