Final Results
The Short Story: VCU won the A-10 Indoor Track & Field championship for the eighth time in the last 11 seasons. Desi Akaolisa won Most Outstanding Field Performer after taking home bronze in the weight throw and gold in shot put.Â
Sprints/Hurdles
- Senior Asia Powell set a personal-record and took home gold in the 60m dash at 7.36s. That marks the 2nd fastest 60m time in VCU program history
- Powell also won bronze in the 200m run with a time of 24.03s, good for 4th-best in program history
- Freshman Aubree Harris brought home silver in the 60m hurdles with a 8.57s mark
- Junior Jaliyah Person won gold in the 400m run with a 54.75s time. She dominated the race as she cleared the 2nd-place finisher by nearly one second
- Person also finished 4th in the 200m run with a personal-best 24.08s
- Senior Jordyn Evans brought home gold in the 500m run with a personal-best 1:15.33
- In all, the Rams won three gold medals, one silver and one bronze medal in sprint events

Relays
- The Rams finished 2nd in the 4x400m relay thanks to strong performances from Evans, Tori Lewis, Jaylin Pate and Person. Person anchored the performance with a 54.84s time in her 400m leg
- The 4x400m performance clinched the overall championship for VCU over Rhode Island
Jumps
Throws
- The Rams dominated the shot put as Akaolisa launched a personal-record 14.26m on her way to gold in the event
- Redshirt senior Like Matalatala won silver in the shot put with a 14.05m throw
- Senior Anaya Harris gained a point for VCU with a 12.61m throw in the shot put
- Freshman Melissa Casiraghi won silver in the weight throw with a 18.39m throwÂ
- Akaolisa won bronze in the weight throw at 18.13m
- Blanca Pereira and Matalatala each placed in the top-six of the weight throw at 17.30m and 16.70m, respectively
- The throws squad brought home four medals: one gold, two silvers and a bronze
Next Up
The Rams hope to carry momentum into the outdoor season as they begin with a split meet on Friday, March 21 and Saturday, March 22. Some members will travel to Orlando, Fla. for the UCF Black & Gold Challenge while others remain in Richmond for the Fred Hardy Invitational hosted by UR.Â
