RICHMOND, VA. – VCU men's soccer freshman forward
Kimarly Scott was named Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week after his three-point game helped lift the Rams to their win at Dayton, the League announced Monday.
Â
Scott logged the opening goal in the third minute at Dayton and assisted on the game-winner to help VCU to a 1-0 week on the road. The Rams snapped Dayton's nine-game unbeaten streak and handed the Flyers their only loss against an unranked opponent this year.
Â
He is the first Ram to earn a mention in the Atlantic 10 weekly awards this season.
Â
The Kingston, Jamaica, native scored his second goal of the season, tying with junior midfielder
Mohammed Ibrahim for the team lead. His three points in the match, along with Ibrahim's three points against the Flyers, are the most in a game by a Ram this season and mark a career-best for the freshman.
Â
VCU's four goals at Dayton were a season high for the team, and Scott factored in on two of them, scoring on his lone shot attempt. He raised his season total in shots on goal to eight, leading all Rams, and brought his SOG% to a team-best .500 among players with more than one shot.
Â
Scott and the Rams return to action at home on Wednesday, October 7, against George Washington. VCU plays host to the Revolutionaries at 2 p.m. in the Athletic Village as it looks to secure the second-straight win in Atlantic 10 play.
