RAMS FALL IN A-10 SEMIFINALS TO SAINT JOSEPH'S

The short story:  No. 6 seed VCU fell behind No. 2 seed Saint Joseph's 5-1 at the end of the first quarter but was unable to overcome the early deficit.
  • VCU tied the program record for wins in a season with eight. The Rams won eight games in 2023
  • The Rams A-10 Semifinals appearance was the first in school history
  • Mia Goerge scored two goals and added an assist
  • Sam Palmer scored two goals. Ashley Karn had a goal and an assist while Kenson Epperly and Rachel Koeneke each scored once
  • Saint Joseph's outshot VCU 32-22 overall and 25-18 in shots on goal
  • The Hawks Sarah Groark who scored five goals
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Saint Joseph's scored six of the first seven goals with Koeneke scoring the lone goal for VCU. The Rams trailed 6-1 with 12:01 left in the second quarter
  • VCU battled back and got within 8-4 after George scored with 58 seconds left in the first half
  • The teams traded goals both sides of halftime and the Rams trailed 11-7 heading into the fourth quarter after a goal from Karn
  • The Hawks outscored VCU 6-0 in the fourth quarter to pull away for the win.
