RICHMOND, Va. – VCU rising senior
Mattias Varjun (Tallinn, Estonia) has been named a 2022-23 All-America Scholar by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA), the organization announced Friday.

It just the latest honor for the Varjun, who also captured All-Atlantic 10 Conference and A-10 All-Academic Team citations in the past year. A transfer from Middle Tennessee State, Varjun ranked second on VCU in scoring average (72.55) in 2022-23. An Economics major, Varjun also posted a 3.9 grade point average and claimed Dean's List, Athletic Director's Honor Roll and A-10 Commissioner's Honor Roll awards.

To be eligible for a GCAA All-America Scholar nomination, individuals must be a sophomore, junior or senior both athletically and academically, must compete in 50 percent of their team's competitive rounds, post a stroke average under 78.0 (for Division I nominees) and maintain a 3.2 GPA or better.
