The Short Story: Sophomore thrower Gudrun Hallgrímsdóttir won the College Division of the hammer throw with a new VCU record of 63.96m, and
Symone Foster ran a new personal and VCU record of 13.69 in the 100-meter hurdles to headline a successful trip to Gainesville for the Ram women.
SPRINTS
- Junior Lauryn Taylor ran a great double in the 100-meter dash and 200-meter dash. On Friday, Taylor posted a new personal record of 23.83 in the 200m, and then she followed it up on Saturday by crossing the line in 11.57 for the 100m.
- Freshman Jordyn Evans (56.55) and junior Karah Moore (56.77) both ran outdoor personal bests in the 400m.
HURDLES
- Foster, a graduate transfer from. Quinnipiac, topped her previous PR of 13.72 set last spring and the VCU school record of 13.80 she set earlier this season at the UCF Black & Gold Invitational. Foster leads the Atlantic 10 this season in the 100mh.
DISTANCE
- Sophomore Lauren Tunnell and freshman Naomi Clarke represented the Rams in the 800m, posting times of 2:13.39 and 2:16.02, respectively
THROWS
- Hallgrímsdóttir's winning throw of 63.96m went 5.73m further than the runner-up's best effort. Hallgrímsdóttir also moved up in the national rankings to 10th in the NCAA East and 17th in the nation in the hammer throw.
- Senior Jocelyn Midkiff enjoyed a triple PR weekend, setting personal bests in the shot put (14.58m), discus (49.83m), and javelin (37.13m). Midkiff's discus performance was good enough to make the final and finish sixth overall.

- Junior Simone Pierre finish fifth overall in the 400m, completing the lap in 56.37.
HURDLES
JUMPS
- Freshman Selkis Elong made the podium in the long jump, finishing third and going 5.70m on her best jump of the day.
- Nayome Shipp also placed third in the high jump, clearing the bar at 1.65m, a season best. Freshman Mariah Washington also went over at 1.65m, a new PR.
- Senior Raquel Hawkins (fifth/11.79m) and sophomore Sydney Carr (seventh/11.60m) both made the final of the triple jump.
THROWS
- Redshirt freshman Like Matalatala advanced to the final of the shot put and placed sixth with a best throw of 12.88m.
UP NEXT
The VCU track & field team will close out their regular season slate next weekend, traveling to two meets. Some Ram athletes will head down to the Georgia Tech Invitational in Atlanta, Ga., on Friday-Saturday, April 21-22. Also on April 21-22, another group will head west on I-64 to the Virginia Challenge in Charlottesville, Va.
