Clemente Silva turned in the first top-15 performance of his young career to lead VCU at the Cleveland Golf Intercollegiate this week.

FIRST TEE
- Silva rode a blistering first day to a 15th-place finish. Silva, who finished 3-over for the tournament, fired back-to-back rounds of 68 and 67 Monday as he battled the top of the leaderboard
- VCU (281-281-307) tied with host and 34th-ranked South Carolina-Aiken for seventh place at 29-over. South Carolina (-2) claimed the team trophy, while Furman (+8) and Wisconsin (+9) took second and third, respectively
- Freshman Ugo Malcor shot 70-70-77 on the way to a share of 23rd place for the Black and Gold, while junior Mattias Varjun carded 75-71-73 and placed tied for 30th
- Senior George Saunders shot a 2-under 68 in Monday's opening round and placed 38th for VCUÂ
