Lauryn Taylor went first and second in the 60-meter dash as the Black and Gold women dominated the sprints at Harvard.
SPRINTS
- This was Tate's third 60m win in a row to go along with her victories at the Brant Tolsma Invitational and the Patriot Games. Her winning time of 7.44 was just .03 of a second off of her personal best. Taylor was right behind her with a runner-up time of 7.50
HURDLES
- Foster broke the 60mH school record that she set herself set three weeks ago at the Virginia Tech Invitational with a then-best time of 8.40 seconds.
- Lauryn Freeman also beat the previous school record with a personal best time of 8.38 seconds.
- Foster and Freeman finished third and fourth overall, respectively
JUMPS
- Freshman Selkis Elong notched a PR in the long jump, landing in the sand pit at 5.80 meters (19'-0.5")
THROWS
- Sophomore Guðrún Hallgrímsdóttir set a new personal record in the weight throw with a best mark of 18.86 meters (61'-10.5") That throw was good enough to finish third in a deep field of competitors

Taylor James, and sophomore
Sophie Heinold traveled to VMI to compete in the indoor pentathlon, a competition that consists of five track & field events: 60-meter hurdles, long jump, shot put, high jump, and the 800-meter run. Athletes are awarded points for their finish and mark in each event. Out of 24 athletes, Channer finished fifth with a total score of 3,248 points. James came home eighth with 2,916 points, and Heinold compiled 2,792 points to place 12
th.

Meet: Bruce Lehane Scarlet & White Invitational

The Short Story: Redshirt freshman
Lauren Tunnell broke through with a fast time of 2:49.26 in the 1000-meter run, breaking the VCU school record in the event by two seconds. In the field events, junior
Eryn Byrd emerged victorious in the shot put, out-throwing the competition at 14.55m (47'-9") as the Black and Gold turned heads in Beantown.
SPRINTS
- Taylor earned her second podium finish in as many days by finishing third in the 200-meter dash, completing one laps around the indoor track in 24.21 seconds
- Tate also stood out in the 200m, breaking the tape with a personal record of 24.60
HURDLES
- A day after their record-breaking performances, Foster and Freeman shined in the 60-meter hurdles once again. Foster took runner-up honors, clocking in at 8.49 seconds, followed closely by Freeman in third at 8.54 seconds
DISTANCE
- Tunnell's school record 1000m was a personal best by eight seconds, her prior best time of 2:57.88 coming earlier this season at the Virginia Tech Invitational. The previous school record came back in 2015 when Nichelle Scott ran a time of 2:51.29
- Freshman Ava Miller also ran well in the 1000m, crossing the finish line in 3:01.88, a personal best by four seconds
- Freshman Naomi Clarke topped her personal best time in the 800-meter run from the previous week by three seconds, going the distance in 2:15.43
JUMPS
- Sophomore Nayome Shipp took second in the high jump, getting over the bar at 1.65m (5'-5"), while senior Dasia Mayo got sixth place with a clearance of 1.60m (5'-3")
- Freshman Chelsea Davis made the final triple jump and placed sixth with a jump of 11.92m (39'-1.25") on her third attempt of the day
THROWS
- Byrd's winning throw of 14.55m came on her sixth and final throw in the final, and it is not far removed from her personal record throw of 14.80m.
- Senior Jocelyn Midkiff joined Byrd in the shot put final, slotting into ninth place, with her best throw of the day going 12.50m (41'-0.25")
Meet: Liberty Open
Location: Lynchburg, Va.

The Short Story: A handful of Rams competed in Lynchburg, led by freshman
Ciara Joyner-Plata making the final in the 60-meter dash. Sophomore
Megan Bozarth also stood out in the triple jump, and freshman
Kayla Morris ran well in multiple hurdle events.
SPRINTS
- Joyner-Plata finished fifth in the 60m final, setting a new personal record in the event of 7.82 seconds along the way
HURDLES
- Morris won the 400-meter hurdles, running a time of 1:11.51 in her first attempt at the event. She also set a new PR of 9.88 seconds in the 60-meter hurdles
JUMPS
- Bozarth followed up her triple jump win last week with a third-place finish this week, her best jump of the day measuring 11.19 meters (36'-8.5")
- Freshman Mariah Washington placed eighth in the high jump, clearing the bar at 1.50m, while senior Khalia Lyons tied for ninth at 1.45m

VCU track & field will compete closer to home for their indoor regular season finale at the Darius Dixon Invitational on Friday and Saturday, Feb. 10-11 in Lynchburg, Va. Action from the Liberty University Indoor Track Complex begins at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, and both days of the meet will be streamed live on ESPN+.
