RAMS EARN FOURTH STRAIGHT NCAA TOURNAMENT BID, FACE BUCKEYES IN FIRST ROUND

RICHMOND, Va. – No. 40 VCU Men's Tennis will face Ohio State on Friday in the first round of the NCAA tournament as announced by the association on Monday.
 
VCU Earned an automatic bid into the national bracket after claiming the Atlantic 10 title with a 4-0 victory over crosstown rival Richmond on Sunday. Over the course of their three-day tournament run the Rams did not concede a single match.
 
Monday's selection marks the fourth straight tournament bid for the program. The Rams will look to make history as no Atlantic 10 conference member has advanced past the first round.

The winner of the first-round match will advance to face the winner South Carolina State and Wake Forest on Saturday.
 
Under third-year head coach Anthony Rossi, VCU has tallied a 17-4 record in their 2020-21 campaign. The Ram's four losses all came against ranked opponents.
 
On March 12, VCU traveled to Tempe, Ariz. and earned a 4-3 upset victory over then No. 17 Arizona State. The win propelled the Rams into the ITA national rankings where they have remained for the past four weeks.
 
No. 80 sophomore Lleyton Cronje headlines VCU's singles lineup. Cronje has put together a dominant second-year campaign with a 12-3 record including an 10-1 mark at the No. 1 position.
 
VCU's doubles lineup is led by the No. 72 pairing of senior Inigo Torre Martin and junior Rayane Stable. The duo has notched a 11-2 record this spring.
