The Short Story: VCU overcame a 17-point third quarter deficit to advance to its second consecutive Atlantic 10 Championship game.

- The 17-point comeback is the largest by VCU this season and is tied for the 11th largest point deficit overcome in Division I history. VCU also won after facing a 17-point deficit at Fordham last season, a game VCU won 47-44. The Rams are 6-1 this season when trailing A-10 opponents by 10 or more points.
- VCU has advanced to consecutive conference championship games for the first time in program history. It also marks the program's third appearance in a conference championship game.
- Danielle Hammond became VCU's all-time leading shot blocker as she now has 178 career blocks. She had three blocks on the day.
- Hammond recorded the fourth double-double of her career with 16 points and 10 rebounds.
- Taya Robinson scored a career-high 22 points, including going a perfect 11-of-11 from the free throw line. She also added five rebounds and two steals.

- VCU shot just 30.9 percent from the field but went 24-of-28 from the free throw line. Fordham shot 38.9 percent from the floor and went 6-of-10 from the free throw line.
- Fordham was led by Bre Cavanaugh who had 17 points and five rebounds.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- After a slow start from both teams, Fordham led VCU 13-11 at the end of the first quarter.
- VCU tied the game at 17-17 with 4:57 left before halftime but Fordham went on a 11-2 run to lead 28-19 at the break.
- Fordham led by as much as 41-25 with 3:14 left in the third quarter.
- VCU then went on a 20-7 run to trail just 48-45 with 5:56 remaining in the game.
- Fordham pushed its lead back to 52-45 with 4:57 left but a 9-0 run, including Robinson's go-ahead layup that gave VCU the lead for good with 35 seconds remaining, put VCU up 54-52 with 25 seconds left.
- Atlantic 10 Defensive Player of the Year Danielle Hammond also had two blocks in the final 27 seconds of the game to help seal the win as VCU went 7-of-8 and completed the comeback.
