• The Rams scored three of the next four goals to tie the game 3-3 with 21:10 before halftime.
• After the Dukes retook the lead at 5-3 with back-to-back goals, VCU scored five of the next six to take an 8-6 lead with 9:34 left in the first half.
• The game was again tied at 8-8 but VCU took a 12-9 lead into halftime after scoring four of the final five goals in the half.
• VCU held off Duquesne in the second half, notching a lead as big as 19-12 with 11:39 remaining. The Dukes got no closer than six goals the rest of the way.
